Maiken Beer

 

Born 1977 in Vienna. Works as a freelance cellist of classical, con- temporary, improvised and jazz- related music.

She studied in Graz and Barcelona with Hildgund Posch, Rudolf Leo- pold and Lluis Claret. Master classes with Bernhard Green- house, Philippe Muller, Howard Penny and Andreas Lindenbaum a.o. In addition she was participant of the International Impuls Acad- emy for Contemporary Music in Graz.

Founding member of the ensemble Studio Dan and her own duo pro- jects celloduoburghardtbeer with Cornelia Burghardt and ViVid with Sophia Goidinger-Koch on the vio- lin.

Over the years she has developed a special interest in the field of dance and theatre performance. 2015 she designed the music performance DICE together with Sophia Goidinger-Koch and Eva-Maria Schaller (dance). Collaboration in various projects with i.e. Gunde Jäch-Micko and the performance group Wildlaks (NOR), the Theater am Ortwein- platz (TaO!), the Ensemble Theater and the Jeunesse Wien.

Furthermore she works among others with Clemens Wenger, Caitlin Smith, the JazzWerkstatt Wien, the Neue Oper Wien, snim, the En- semble szene instrumental, the Janus Ensemble and the Ensemble Re- consil.

Numerous national and international appearances at well-known festivals and venues such as Konzerthaus Wien, Porgy & Bess, Alte Schmiede, Ruprechtskirche, 21er Haus Wien, Kampnagl Hamburg, Festival Herbstklang, Festival Glatt & Verkehrt, Jazzfest Berlin, Jazzfestival Saal- felden and Inntöne Festival Diersbach.

She lives in Vienna with composer/trombonist Daniel Riegler and her two children.
